What We Do
Hollandaise Creamery is a full-service, artisinal & experimental creamery based in Washington, D.C. We draw from Dutch and global dairy traditions, as well as local flavor, to make cheese, frozen custard, butter, yogurt, and all the other good stuff.
Find us at farmers markets around the city, pop-ups, our online store, or at local grocers. Stop by, grab a sample, ask too many questions. We’re into it.

Why We Do It

We believe that what you eat, and whether you can access it, shouldn’t depend on which ward you live in.
D.C. has a real food access gap. While we can’t close it on our own, we can show up where we are and make it count. Dairy is one of the most nutrient-dense foods out there: calcium, protein, vitamins that support growing children and adults alike.
Wholesome food, especially dairy, shouldn’t be a luxury. It shouldn’t require a private equity membership or a three-hour road trip to the countryside (though seriously, go visit your local farmers. They’re wonderful!). It should be accessible, affordable, maybe even a little fun.
Who We Are

Hi, I’m Keirstyn. I run Hollandaise Creamery, which means I make the cheese, answer emails, haul milk, and manage inventory. The whole shebang. :O)
I studied sustainable food and agriculture at Purdue, which is where I first got serious about what food actually does for people. After graduating I apprenticed at a traditional artisan creamery in New Hampshire over 18 months, learning traditional cheesemaking, before making my way back home to D.C. with a pretty specific idea of what I wanted to build.
Food and joy are both important. Possibly essential. Sometimes that looks like a really good smoked gouda. Sometimes it’s a melon soda custard float. I’m building this for people who want neighborhood food that’s also just... nice. Accessible. Maybe a little weird in a good way. That’s it. Thanks for reading this far. You’re a pal.
